Sunshine Fresh Food International Corporation (SFFIC), a business establishment engaged in food manufacturing particularly dehydrated fruits, whose main office and production plant are strategically located in Bajac, Liloan, Cebu was able to avail a multi-million assistance from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) under the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI) Venture Financing Projects / Grants-in-Aid Program.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the premier science and technology body that provides appropriate and adequate services to support national development. DOST-7, spearheaded by the very energetic director, Engr. Rene Burt N. Llanto, has been very supportive in embarking the strategic / viable projects for the sustainable economic development. One of the missions, DOST-7 have is the mobilization of the different sectors in order to contribute to the fulfillment of the needs and aspirations of the regional community.

Sunshine Fresh Food International Corporation (SFFIC) is one of the enterprises identified with viable technologies to support with. SFFIC will be one of the major firms exporting dried tropical fruits specifically Dried Mangoes. The company will also help our country not only in earning foreign exchange but also in generating employment and development both in rural and urban areas.

The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the project entitled “Establishment of a Dehydrated Fruit Processing Plant in Bajac, Liloan, Cebu” was held last February 28, 2005 at the Grand Convention Center in Lahug, Cebu City. The affair was attended by the regional director of DOST Region VII, Engr. Rene Burt Llanto together with the Technical Division Chief, Edilberto L. Paradela; Supervising Science Research Specialist, Engr. Jesus F. Zamora; Provincial Science and technology officer, Engr. Samule A. Parcon; Ms. Nilda Restificar, Commision on Audit representative and other DOST Region VII staff were present. Some of the members of Board of Directors of Sunshine Fresh Food International Corporation (SFFIC), headed by no less than the president, Mr. Johnny Juan; the Vice-President for Operation, Mr. Jacinto Maghanoy; the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ms. Precy F. Cerna together with Gibb Bridrijo and other staff also witnessed the special event. The event started at three o’clock in the afternoon. The President of SFFIC gave his opening remarks and the Director of DOST-7 also gave the inspirational message. SFFIC and DOST-TAPI are both looking forward for the great success of the project and attain its goals and objectives.
